In Aino and Valdemar's apartment

Hemma hos Aino och Valdemar

Describe each other!

Valdemar Fredriksson, trainer and health entrepreneur. He has two great passions, food and training. Early mornings are no problem, nor is spending half a day tracking down good food.

Aino Jawo, musician. True Cancer that she is, she loves looking after her home. Sorting things, listening to a podcast or reading a book from the bestseller list are things she happily does, unless nature and a sauna are on offer, of course. The Finnish streak runs strong.

Why did you want to renovate?

It was about time. We had renovated Aino's flat earlier - which turned out to be a success! It not only strengthened the relationship, it also gave Valdemar a bit of "feeling". Now it was time to take on his old gem just below Nytorget.

What choices and obstacles did you come up against before and during the renovation?

That a renovation does not mean you can start renovating straight away. Renovating while Covid-19 was raging meant constantly empty warehouses and long delivery times. That was true of just about everything except Östersjösten, which arrived within 3 days.

What was important to you when it came to materials? Why did you choose Alevik honed for the floor?

We love nature, so choosing natural materials came fairly naturally. We love that the character of the stone is very elegant and harmonious.
- When Deniz described Alevik honed as "the Nordic Mediterranean" I was sold, says Valdemar.

If you were to give one tip to future renovators, what would it be?

Work out your material choices before you start demolishing! Then at least you know what to order.
